Jupiter is a planet in the Sol system. During the time of the Galactic Council, the moons of this planet served as the headquarters of the Jovian Astrolaw Commission and it was known as the "independent Jovian system."
This was done in order to give the J.A.C. a base of operations which was not subject to the laws of the wider Sol system.
