The First Galactic War was a conflict between the Galactic Council and rebellious settlers, originating from Alpha Centauri. It is also known as "The Settler's War."
The war began in 2178, and it had numerous causes. For some, it was the failure of the council to control the galactic corporations, which led to poor living and working conditions for the settlers. Others simply desired freedom from the "tyranny" of the council.
The war raged on for sixteen years, before finally ending in 2194. Between five hundred and six hundred million lives were lost over the course of this war, sixty percent of whom were civilians.
