Ashanti Okar is a bounty hunter. Formerly she was a soldier, fighting in the rebellion against the Galactic Council.

History[]

First Galactic War[]

Although not much is revealed about Ashanti's childhood, she does jokingly claim that her mother always said she'd end up in prison one day.

Ashanti served as a medic during the First Galactic War, fighting for the rebellion.

Planet Leto[]

After the war, she moved to Hope City on Planet Leto, though she did keep in close contact with the rebellion. She found a job at the local hospital, and was also involved with the Veterans group - acting as a lieutenant under Colonel Michael Kane.

She developed a close relationship with her fellow lieutenant, Jojo, and was also briefly in a relationship with a member of the Valley Crew.

Ashanti first encountered Gail Pilgrim and her crew when she came to Planet Leto in search of her father John Pilgrim. After Gail helped the Veterans to fulfill certain objectives in the city, Ashanti and Jojo accompanied her on a voyage to Dusk Island Mines, where they found her father.

Unfortunately, they were all arrested shortly afterwards by a J.A.C. team who had been pursuing Gail across the galaxy.

Prison Station 13[]

Along with Gail's other comrades, Ashanti was incarcerated at the infamous Prison Station 13, also known as "The Chain." She and Jojo were charged with various terrorist acts associated with the Veterans group.

Two months later, she was directly involved in a prison break orchestrated by Sabina White, and she was finally able to rejoin the rebellion. She served throughout the Second Galactic War, ultimately becoming part of the crew of Starship Quicksilver.

The Museum of Military History in Aegina City has a statue of her alongside Gail Pilgrim, Colonel Michael Kane and Admiral Delacour, suggesting that she is a very highly decorated war hero.

Departure from Quicksilver[]

In 2208, Jojo went A.W.O.L. on Planet Ymir in the Tau Ceti star system. There had apparently been similar previous incidents on Planet Omai and Planet Mars. After waiting for some time, Sabina convinced Gail to leave Jojo behind, expecting that he would reunite with them once he sobered up.

Ashanti was furious that they had abandoned Jojo on the planet, and she left the crew to go and look for him.

Pan Gu[]

By 2216, Ashanti had reconnected with Jojo and was now working as a bounty hunter based in Yamaichi City on the Forest Moon of Pan Gu. She helped a young girl named Margaret Dale who had come to the city in search of her mother, advising her to visit the laboratories on Anno Street.

Meanwhile, Ashanti had been investigating a corrupt local police official named Jack Pierce. She enlisted the help of Calvin Kristensen, who believed that Pierce was responsible for the recent disappearance of a young girl. Gail Pilgrim and Jojo also arrived in the city shortly afterwards and were searching for the same girl, who Ashanti eventually realised was Margaret Dale. She also finally forgave Gail for abandoning Jojo on Tau Ceti.

After confronting Agent Pierce and handing him over to the local wardens, Ashanti was part of the team that flew to Shiryō Island to rescue Maggie. Once the girl had been freed, she decided to join Calvin Kristensen's crew onboard the Starship Athena, along with Jojo.

Personality[]

Ashanti has an extremely strong sense of personal justice, and can't stand to see the strong preying on the weak. She does not easily forget if she feels that somebody betrayed her or her friends.
