The anima chip is an important component of the android Emet, created by Doctor Enver Balik. Balik installed a version of this chip into every artificial intelligence he ever created, claiming that it gave them their "humanity."
The computer program on the chip contained a series of moral principles, or core beliefs. However, the original version was quite simplistic and meant that Emet had great difficulty in performing his duties as a soldier for the Rebellion.
Emet's chip was subsequently upgraded by a priest named Lekan, who programmed into it a more complex moral philosophy.
